Who Will Cry at Your Funeral?

In the best-selling book “The Slight Edge” Author Jeff Olson talks about a recent article in a popular success magazine.  The article shared results from a survey about the behavior of people at funerals.  They found that when someone dies, on average, only 10 people will cry at the funeral.  And the #1 determining factor for people going to the burial site was the weather.  If it rains only one-third of the people will go.

Think about it.  At the conclusion of your life, only 1 out of the 3 people who you impacted, influenced and loved will decide to say their final goodbyes as they lay you to rest.

That’s a sobering reality. And it helps to put the opinions of others into perspective.

“Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner”- Lao Tzu

You relinquish your power and dishonor yourself when your life revolves around what people say or think about you.

Understanding the power of knowing your worth and valuing your opinion, FIRST, will free you from the prison of other’s opinions.

Everyone will not understand the mission and vision that you have for your life.  And that’s ok because it’s not meant for them, it’s for you.

Here’s the good news.  When you are on your path of purpose and destiny God will introduce the right people in the right season to motivate and encourage you.  After all, we are not meant to be an island and your divine tribe will find you.
