How to Increase your social media engagement

If you are serious about growing your business on social media it’s time to Stop focusing on followers and start watching your engagement rate. 

Social media engagement refers to the number of likes, follows, comments, direct messages, clicks and reposts on your page. This shows how many people were interested in your content. 

Having an effective engagement rate strategy gives  your company greater visibility, helps to build customer relationships, improves your credibility and increases brand awareness. 

There are various ways to measure engagement, below are two easy calculations you can use. 

To calculate the engagement rate for a Facebook post, you’ll need to calculate the, number of engaged users/ total reach of the post x 100.  Then multiply by 100 to turn it into a percentage. You can calculate the engagements per day or month.

To calculate Instagram and Twitter Engagement Rate, you’ll  find the total likes, comments, and followers. (Total likes + comments/total followers x 100) Then you divide your answer by the number of followers and multiply by 100 to get a percentage. 

After evaluating your results you can create a strategy for improving your content that can help boost your engagement rates.

Be authentic-Your audience wants to see the real you.  Let your personality shine and allow your audience to get to know your company and the person behind it.

Tell Your Story-Everyone loves a great story. Learn how to tell your story in a compelling and interesting way, if you want to boost your engagement

Have a Conversation-Social media marketing is a two way conversation between your audience and your company. Be responsive.  Don’t forget to respond to the questions, comments and direct messages from your audience.

Post Consistently-To increase social media engagement, you will need to post regularly.  If you want to increase post engagement, post 2-3 times per day.

Write Great Captions-Use attention grabbing headlines in the beginning of your post. Use a variety of formatting including All caps and other social media friendly fonts.
