How to Know When it’s Time for a social media Make-Over?

If you are an entrepreneur, social media is an important part of your marketing strategy.  But you already know this.  The real question is, are you making social media work for you?  It’s getting harder and harder for your current and future customers to find you on social media.  It’s more important than ever to make sure your online presence allows you to stand out and get noticed.

How do you know it’s time for a social media makeover?

You are Inconsistent: Your audience wants to hear from you. Show up for your audience by providing a consistent presence on social media. Sporadic posting will create a disengaged audience and no one wants that.

Your Numbers are Disappointing: Your metrics will not lie.  Social media analytics will tell you so many things; from your audience engagement, post engagement, audience composition and so much more. If your numbers aren't growing,  it’s time for a makeover.

You Lack Brand Identity: Your brand has its own identity, a unique voice and personality.  This should be reflected on your social media. A solid  strategy requires that your brand is easily identified and recognized across all of your marketing efforts.  This will help you to create a cohesive, unified and professional brand that will help elevate your business.

Your Information is Outdated: When was the last time that you updated your social media information? Have you added new products, set new hours, or revised services? Make sure to keep this information updated. Refresh images, banners, icons, etc. to make sure that your pages are updated across all platforms.

Social media can be a game changer for your business. It works if you work it! You get out what you put in. It can be overwhelming, but it’s not impossible to take charge of your social media.

Here are a few tips to help you build your brand on social media.

  • Understand your goal: Be crystal clear about WHY you are on social media. Whether it's to build brand awareness, establish credibility, grow your audience or generate leads, knowing your goal is important to your success on social media

  • Know your audience: Having a clearly defined audience will help you to create content that not only speaks to them but will keep them engaged.

  • Create great content: Creating a variety of engaging, relevant and interesting content is essential for any social media strategy. Create a series of content messaging buckets for your brand. This will create consistency and helps to build your credibility as a standout in your industry.

  • Aesthetics Matter: You want your content to look as appealing as possible! From the photos you post, to the graphics you share, you should have a consistent aesthetic that feels authentic to your brand and business.

Once your social media makeover is complete, you’re ready to get back to posting! If you have a regular posting schedule, keep it up! If you don’t, now is the perfect time to create one. You don’t have to post every single day, but the more active you are on social media, the more you will attract and engage customers.

It is recommended that if you can’t post everyday, try posting at least 3 times a week on all platforms. If you know you won’t be able to keep up with posts throughout the week, you can easily schedule them at the beginning of the week.
