How to Create a Social Media Strategy-Part 3

Choosing Social Media Platforms

When developing your social media goals you will need to decide which social media platforms are right for your business. The platform will determine the content you create and the audience that you will reach.

What platforms is your target audience using?

The entire point of using social media for your business is to reach customers.  If your social media  efforts are focused on the wrong platform,it is highly unlikely that you will reach your intended audience. Take some time to research how your target audience is using social media.  There are statistics and demographics available regarding various platforms and how they interact with brands.  You can also survey existing customers or conduct a focus group to discover this information.

Marketing Strategies

A marketing strategy is a plan of action to sell and promote your product.  You have your goals now it is time to create a plan that you can execute in order to reach your goals.

Social Media Content

If you are not providing the content that your target audience is craving, it will take seconds before they will find one of your competitors who is serving them the content they want.

“Content marketing is becoming less about the words you put on a page, and more about the experiences you create for the consumer.”

William Comcowich, the CEO of Cyber Alert

Creating great content can be overwhelming.

Here are a few ideas that are highly effective:

  • User Generated content-This is a great way to increase engagement and reach.  Share posts from your customers using your product or engaging with your brand.  This also gives you an opportunity to show your customers some love

  • Live streams-Going live on Facebook and Instagram is a great way to build your brand and it also gives you an opportunity to generate leads.  Simply post your offer or form in the content of your Live post.

  • Post testimonials-Video or written testimonials are both great content options to share

  • Polls-Ask a question to survey your audience.  People love to share advice and provide insight

Now it’s time for you to put your strategy into action. Remember to write down your goals, create a plan and be consistent.
